Cause analysis and improvement measures for spots defect on the surface of electroplated copper/silver/cadmium coatings on tin bronze cast parts // MAO Lin-wei, LIU Hui-cong*
Abstract: Some spots often occurred on the surface of skid shoe assemblies after electroplating copper, silver, and cadmium successively, which affected the appearance and corrosion resistance of products. The main reason of this problem is the existence of sand holes in the tin bronze cast part, where some salts remain during the salt bath diffusion welding and pretreatment process for electroplating. The problem was solved by treatment with a sealing agent composed of phytic acid, corrosion inhibitor for tin bronze casting, and dispersant prior to electroplating. The corrosion resistance of product was also improved on the premise of a qualified adhesion of coatings.
